Licenses and source.
Carvect Pro is built on open-source software. The most significant is the Qt framework, used under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3.
Qt 6.11.2 — LGPL v3
Qt is linked dynamically and is not modified. The Qt libraries ship as ordinary shared libraries inside the application, so you may replace them with your own compatible build of the same Qt version.
Complete corresponding source for the exact Qt version this build uses is available at no charge:
If either link is unavailable, write to support@smepoint.com and SMEPoint LLC will supply the source directly.
Replacing the Qt libraries
The LGPL gives you the right to run Carvect Pro against your own build of Qt. These are the steps, so that the right is usable rather than merely stated.
Build the same Qt version this release links against (6.11.2), with your modifications. A different minor version will not work: the Python bindings are compiled against one Qt and do not carry across releases. The license asks for a modified version of the library that was linked, which is exactly this.
Windows. Replace the Qt6*.dll files in the
installation folder with yours. Nothing else is needed.
macOS. Replace the Qt libraries inside
Carvect Pro.app, then re-sign the bundle — modifying it
invalidates our signature, and Apple silicon will not load unsigned
code:
codesign --force --deep --sign - "/Applications/Carvect Pro.app"
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Carvect Pro.app"
An ad-hoc signature (--sign -) is enough. The application is
built with library validation disabled, so a Qt build signed by you — or
by nobody — will load.
If you hit something these steps do not cover, write to support@smepoint.com.
Everything else
The application ships a complete notices file listing every component,
its license and its home. You can read it inside the application at
Help ▸ Open-Source Licenses, and the license texts
themselves are in the licenses folder beside the
application.
